Grandpa Roly

Can't say much today. I will in a few weeks. Thankfully, Karen's good at being eloquent at times like this.
I'll just echo her part about Grandpa loving unconditionally. I have never known a more loving or gentle person. When I saw him today, the memories that came flooding back were of his love for his wife, for me, my husband, and my children.

People devoted to doing good, providing support, and defending what is right deserve to be remembered and have their stories told. Roland Holt is one of those people. He loved telling you stories about his life, in part because he loved everyone, and in part because he loved to tell you stories that connected you to him. I first met him while I was courting Heather, and the moment he found out I was from Texas he related every experience he had ever had there.
He was also a devoted husband and father. Before I married Heather, he sat me down and said, "Sam, there is only one piece of advice I can give you. Marriage is not 50-50, it is 100%. You have to give 100%." He meant it because he knew it, and he knew it because he lived it. My comparatively brief time knowing him still left a memorable impact on me and how I live my life. While I mourn his loss and will miss the delight he derived from life and shared with those around him, it comforts me to know that he has now been reunited with his beloved wife.

I'm sad for your loss, but it sounds like you have an amazing role model to remember.

I got to meet him a couple years ago when staying with your mom and he was absolutely delightful! So sorry for your loss.
